Anthony Comparato, as Chairman of Compson Development Corporation maintained an active position in his community through business and civic associations since relocating to Boca Raton, Florida in 1985 from Rochester, New York.

Compson Development was founded in Rochester, New York in 1946 to develop large tracts of single-family homes and later evolved into developing shopping centers, office buildings, condominiums and multi-family residential. Compson’s expanding operations warranted additional offices in McLean, VA and Boca Raton to support new projects along the Eastern seaboard.

Before relocating to Boca Raton, Mr. Comparato serviced as Chairman of the Legislative Council of Monroe County Builders Association, Director of the Monroe County Industrial Development Agency in Rochester, New York and numerous other organizations.

In 1987 Mr. Comparato founded 1st United Bank in Boca Raton, Florida and served as Chairman for the Board for ten years until the bank sold it’s 33 branches serving Palm Beach, Broward, Martin and Brevard Counties with approximately $1 Billion in assets to Wachovia Bank in August 1997.

Mr. Comparato maintained membership in the Greater Boca Raton Chamber of Commerce, Royal Palm Yacht and Country Club and served many years with Rotary Club of Boca Raton. He served as a Director on the Foundation Board of Boca Raton Community Hospital, underwriting the cost of the “Tree of Life” sculpture in the main lobby which was custom designed for purposes of recognizing major donors.

In February 1992, Mr. Comparato was recognized by the Chron’s & Colitis Foundation of America as “Man of the Year”. He served the Board of Overseers Lynn University and was also involved with the Debbie Rand Foundation, Red Cross, Boca Raton Philharmonic Orchestra and many other organizations.

On the personal side, Anthony and his wife Edith had three sons, James, Robert & Thomas, five grand-children, eleven great grandchildren. Anthony was an avid yachtsman and sport fishing enthusiast.

Anthony served with the 10th Mountain Division (Ski Troopers) in Italy during WWII. He was honorable discharged from the Army in 1946.
